Parents Should be Free to Choose the
Best Education for Their Children
All children
deserve a chance at a great education, no matter their zip code. At its heart,
school choice is simply the idea that all parents, regardless of means, should
enjoy the freedom to choose what schools their children attend. As the nations preeminent courtroom defender of school choice, the
Institute for Justice intervenes on behalf of parents nationwide.
IJ won two major cases at the U.S. Supreme Court: Zelman v.
Simmons-Harris, the biggest Supreme Court education case since Brown
v. Board of Education, and Arizona Christian School Tuition
Organization v. Winn. Zelman and Winn upheld school
choice programs as constitutional, and Winn limited challenges to
