Republicans took control of Congress in Tuesday’s midterm elections, a result that transforms the political dynamic in Washington and gives the GOP new power over President Barack Obama ’s final two years in the White House.

 

Republicans won Senate seats from West Virginia to Colorado and beyond to assemble a majority of at least 52 seats, expanded their margin in the House—possibly to levels not seen in decades—and won key governor races.

 

The sweep left Democrats without a majority in either chamber for the first time since 2006.

Connecticut Governor's Race Results: Victory Declared in Gubernatorial Election

A close race for governor ends on an uncertain note early Wednesday morning, but with indications of a Malloy victory.... More

 

 

As of 1:37 a.m., with 74 percent of precincts reporting, Malloy had 50.5 percent of the vote to Foley’s 48.4 percent, and 415,837 counted votes, compared with Foley’s 398,510, according to the New York Times. Joseph Visconti had 1.1 percent of the votes, or 8,967.  Read More at ……

Joni Ernst Wins Election, First Woman to Represent Iowa in US Senate | whotv.com

 

DES MOINES, Iowa – Joni Ernst has been elected as the next U.S. Senator from Iowa. The Republican, a state Senator from Red Oak, defeated Democrat U.S. Representative Bruce Braley in one of the nation’s closest watched elections.

Ernst will fill the seat currently occupied by Senator Tom Harkin.
